Have you ever noticed that when a conservative and a liberal face off on TV, the liberal usually has a couple of smart things to say, but ends up either getting lost in the weeds or thrown off by the conservative, who comes off as confident and practical?

We’ve spent a lot of time figuring out why that is, and the basic answer is simple: conservatives have long treated political debate as a skill to be learned and practiced. Progressives haven’t. Through media training and messaging, we’re making it a progressive priority to win the debate. Here, we share some of the theories and resources that help define our strategy.
